Artist's Comments

The continued interventions into Latin American affairs have left millions dead...El Salvador had its moment of glory too...

curious: where do you find your source material for the images?
:iconredteam:
umm..all over..a lot of newspaper clippings and photojournalist sources. I usually use these images as a starting point and then cut them up, collage them, draw them or paste them into the drawing sometimes..
Other times I will have an idea first and then seek out the images to use for reference material. Grotesque and graphic images usually spur an idea and then I work from there...A lot of the time the source material isn't even an image, but something I've read in the paper or books...

Your figurative work is so powerful - you're going way beyond your source material and trying to get to the heart of the matter. You're taking an image seen by the cold, impartial eye of a camera and making it personal and significant again. It's not just distant, disconnected events but something you are personally involved in. It's like you're trying to understand what's going on, why you respond to those news reports, why nobody else seems to, trying to find out what's really going on and not just what was reported. I think (and hope) that people will respond more to your artwork than they do to the images in the news.
:iconredteam:
wow......no one has ever quite put it like that....thank you a lot...

Thanks for the watch. I truly admire your work.

You might want to check out AdBusters, if you're not aware of their organization already. :)

yeah, that's kinda what I thought. I tend to do the same thing. Although I'm taking a break from political artwork at the moment, (hard as it is) I Just had an exhibition that was really politically driven, kinda drained my brain. Max respect to you and ur work.
:iconredteam:
You too man....stay in touch, maybe we could organize an online exhibition or something. Political art is extremely draining, as you said, but it is also incredibly important.
:iconredteam:
Oh yea I know those guys ... but thanks for reminding me...they have awesome stuff. Thanks for all your support cause it really is great to know someone looks at those images I made and actually thinks about what they mean and the wider scope that they are part of. You give me some hope! :boogie:
:iconnangapanda:
Yeah I agree, I wish I had the energy and time to get as involved as i'd like, although it tends to make me more pissed off the more I learn and try to express.
Online show sounds like a great Idea.
Let me know what you have in mind.
